Trashiyangtse is also known for two major religious festivals in the country, Gom Kora and Chorten Kora. Gom Kora is one of the sacred places where Guru Rinpoche (Great Buddhist Saint) subdued a demon that resided in a big rock. Even today one can see the imprints on the rocks those were created when Guru Rinpoche subdued the demon. The temple is renowned for its festival held in the 2nd lunar month every year. The popular Chorten Kora was built by Lama Ngawang Loday in 1740 AD based on the Boudhanath stupa in Nepal. Legend has, that a girl from Arunachal Pradesh, India who was believed to be an angel sacrificed her life by entering the stupa during its construction. In the memory of the girl and to pay respect to the Guru Rinpoche, people from across the country and people from Arunachal Pradesh still visit every year to circumambulate the stupa during the great religious festivals during mid of March.

Bhutan - Trashi Yangtse
A 3.5 hour drive from Trashigang is Trashi Yangtse, located at an elevation of 1880 m. It is the eastern home of the Black- Necked Crane, bordering the Indian district of Arunachal Pradesh.
